What would cause my Kenmore dryer model 110.92826101 to get a E1 error code?

I am getting a E1 error code as soon as I start the dryer.

The E1 error code is caused from an open thermistor reading to the unit control board.

Always shut the power of to the dryer before any repairs

. The thermistor is a temperature sensor that takes place of the thermostat. You will need an ohmmeter to test the thermistor. With the wires off the thermistor it should ohm out at 10.000 ohms at room temperature. If you do not have a tester, I recommend checking the wire connections on the unit control board and at the thermistor. If you still have the error code than replace the thermistor. I have provided you with the instructions of how to access the unit control and the thermistor. The part number for the thermistor is 8577274 and can be ordered from this link.
