What should the compression be on a Craftsman lawn mower with a 4.5 engine?

I would like to know what the compression should be on engine model 143.944506.

We have not checked compression for some time now. The reason we no longer check compression is most engines today have a compression release to ease starting. Most techs are now using a cylinder leak down tester. This tester pressurizes the cylinder and the tech and hear the leak if any. If you only have a compression tester, the pressure should be around 60 psi. Your reading will range depending on how fast you turn the engine over.
