Why is my Lennox furnace blower not working?

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

This is a Lennox furnace model #G12Q3-82-7. The blower
attempts to come on but the fan is not turning. I suspect that the motor will burn out or already has and will need to be replaced. That is, just the motor not the squirrel box.

First, disconnect power to the unit and spin the blower wheel by hand to see if it turns free. If it's stuck or hard to turn the motor will need to be replaced. If it's free, spin the wheel and turn the power back on (keep your hands clear) and if the blower wheel stops, the motor will need to be replaced. If it takes off and runs, usually the capacitor needs to be replaced. When the motor is replaced, the squirrel cage or blower wheel should still be ok. It's very rare that it would also need to be replaced. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician.
