What is causing my Whirlpool Duet dryer to make a screeching noise when it is running?

Whirlpool duet dryer and it makes a screeching noise when the door is shut and turned on. I used to be able to hold the door in and the noise would stop. We worked on the door thinking that was the problem but it didn't stop. I was wondering if you have any ideas about this problem.

A screeching noise is usually associated with the idler pulley or the drum seals.

The first thing I suggest you try is to remove the lower access panel and top panel and see if the source of the screech is more apparent. See the image below for how to do this.

The idler pulley and drum seals can be changed as a do-it-yourself project if you're comfortable doing such projects.

Any parts needed can be obtained from the following link with a model number:

Sears PartsDirect

.

I hope this information is helpful to you but after making some checks submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
