Why would an electric dryer squeak when drying clothes?

My electric dryer is a model 417.84052500. This had been going on for the last couple of days but today the noise got very loud & never stopped making it. Before the noise would be for a short period of time, unlike today. So what I am also looking for is if you can send me step-by-step instructions on how to repair this and what parts are needed. If you have any pictures or diagrams I would really appreciate it if you would send them to me.

A squealing noise on this type of dryer is normally caused by a rear drum bearing that is worn out. The first image below shows the procedures for tearing down the dryer to access the internal components. Be sure that you

unplug the dryer

to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. If you open up the dryer cabinet, you should be able to verify that the squeak is coming from the rear drum bearing. There is a kit (shown in the second image below) that has all of the parts that you should need to fix this dryer problem. You can order this kit (part number 5303281153) from the

Sears PartsDirect

website.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:
