1996 Jeep grand cherokee lmtd read door won't open. tried wd40, the elecric door opener, and brute force. the glass lifts no problem. Please help.

Electric doors and remote key fob. rear door just won't open. It sounds like the lock is clicking, but when I try to pull it open, nothing, even using the key doesn't help.

the glass hatch lifts fine. I have tried spraying wd40 down the sides and in the opening, physical force, nothing seems to move.

Thanks.

Unfortunately you are going to have to take the panel off usually there's a small diameter rod inside that becomes disconnected or unbent to make it to long to work had this problem on an 01 Cherokee

Hate to tell you this but your going to have to remove the door panels with them closed. Not an easy task and I hate to tell you you might want to take this one to the dealer where you have the most experienced technicians for that vehicle. They will be able to remove them with the least amount of damage. Sorry, Mike

Hello,

I used to have this problem on my Chevy Blazer. I found some general information at a forum at Edmunds.com that may be useful. I attached the link below. Hope this helps!
