I have a Kenmore 800 washer, model #110.28832700. How do I remove the cabinet?

I cannot easily pull off the end caps of the control panel to tilt it back and remove the cabinet like I did with my 90 series washer? Something has detached from inside the cabinet and fallen to the floor and I would like to take a look inside. I think it is a sound absorber. I just want to get the cabinet off.J

To Christopher,

This issue is most likely being caused by a bad load sensing switch. The diagnosis of this issue will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please utilize the checks below. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. Landell

I did clear the valves, there was nothing to clear. Put new valves in and it still did fill the washer machine. All the other functions seem to work still. Just no water. Model number 110-29822801 Kenmore 800 washing machine. Should I replace the timer part number w10187167 next

This website is way to slow and kicks me off once in a while. The parts website for sears is way too slow also.

To Christopher,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

Without your model number I am only able to give you general information.

Make sure the water is turned on fully at both supply valves. Ensure that the inlet valves are not blocked by debris such as hard water minerals. Most inlet valves should ohm between 500 to 1000 ohms. If you would like specific help with your washer, please reply to this post with the model number and more details.

Success! It took less than 10 seconds to release the spring clips under the console. Thank you, David, for providing the correct steps and the detailed attachment. I can easily replace the sound absorber now. Thanks again!

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

On this model the end caps do not come off in order to access the console. You use a putty knife to release the spring clips #8 in the parts image.

Unplug or disconnect power

to the washer before attempting repairs.

Slide a putty knife under each end cap to release the spring clips holding the console down to the top of the washer. I have provided the rest of the step by step cabinet removal instructions in the image below.

If you decide to inspect the washer without removing the cabinet you can always carefully pull the unit out about 18 inches, tilt the unit back against the wall & use a flashlight to make your inspections from below. Be sure the washer is disconnected from power before pulling the unit out.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Thank you so much Raquel! I checked out the link you thoughtfully found for me and I just can't tell if that model is like my washer. I have tried to pull off the end caps and have been unsuccessful. I'm afraid I'm going to break something if I am doing it incorrectly. I will try to see if the models are similar. Thanks again!
