Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher Air Dry/Lock button keeps flashing and won't unlock.

My Kenmore dishwasher model #665.15822 air dry/lock button keeps flashing and won't unlock using the manual's instructs. Holding the button down for 4 seconds doesn't work. Is there a button sequence I can press to unlock it?
I've searched online and this issue seems to be very common with this machine. I tried cutting the power to see if it might reset the panel and it didn't work. I searched for parts on your website for this model and none were available. If I need to get a new control panel, how much do they run?

Sure Fred. dust the ribbon, that'll fix it. Dusted what I could, Sure as hell can't remove the ribbon!! The plate with the settings is adhered to the front of the machine, can't remove that....Great advice. I'm supposing the other 2 "novices" wiggled something unintentionally and Bam! it'll work for a little while longer. Does anyone have real advice, or is this page pretty much for bored people who want to have some "fun"?

For those people who still have this problem, I think Fred is right. I have a 665.15734 and I took apart the washer, did a quick clean up with an air duster of the electronics and keypad, and reseated all the cables and everything is working again.

Whole thing takes 15 minutes for two complete novices.

From the description you give I suspect the keypad is shorted or stuck and the console/interface will have to be replaced.

There is no button push reset for this problem and you say you have already turned the power off and on.

There is one thing you can try which may be helpful.

First turn the power to the dishwasher off first.

Next remove the console and access the ribbon connector at the main control that goes to the interface/console. See the image below for how to do this.

Try removing the ribbon and then reinstall it and see if there is any improvement.

If there is no improvement then you have at least proven you can access and change the part yourself. This will at least save the cost of a $129 dollar service call.

The console is color specific and can be obtained with a complete model number from the following link:

Sears PartsDirect

.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

Just so you can compare the following link contains brand new similar dishwashers which start in the $250 dollars range:

New Similar Dishwashers

.

I hope this information is helpful to you.
