What is error code "E1 -F5-" mean when I try to run the clean cycle on my Kenmore range?

Model 665.92002102 Kenmore Electric Range Super Capacity with ULTRABAKE System. When I try to set it to the cleaning mode, the error message E1 -F5- comes up. The door does not lock. What does that mean?

The E1 - F5 error code indicates that the oven door lock assembly is not operating. The oven will not begin the self clean cycle unless the oven door is properly locked. This failure is normally caused by a failed door lock assembly. In rare instances, it can be caused by a failed control board or a wiring failure. The normal troubleshooting for this problem is to

unplug the range

and check the wire harness connections between the control board and the door lock assembly. The first image below shows the access information for the components in this model of range. The second image shows the wiring diagram with the door lock circuit highlighted. If you are able to

unplug the range

and check the wiring connections, you can likely fix this problem yourself. If the wiring connections are okay, the next step in troubleshooting is to replace the door lock assembly (part W10107820). You can order this part from the

Sears PartsDirect

website. Replacing this part will likely fix your problem.

If you replace the door lock assembly and still have the same problem then the electronic oven control board may also need to be replaced.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

For error codes a suggestion I have is going onto your owners manual. If you do not have one just go ahead and go onto the top of this page and click on the tab that says "MANUALS" a search box should come up; go ahead and type in your model number. Your owners manual should come up and in it you will be able to find out what the error codes on your appliance mean. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!
