WHY IS THE "CONTROL LOCKED" LIGHT ON, ON MY KENMORE ELITE HE3 WASHER? I CANNOT USE MY WASHER AT ALL..

I DID 2 LOADS OF WASH ON MONDAY AND EVERYTHING WENT FINE. WENT TO USE THE WASHER YESTERDAY AND NOTICED THE "CONTROL LOCKED" LIGHT WAS ON. I PUSHED THE CANCEL/PAUSE BUTTON AND NOTHING. I UNPLUGGED THE WASHER FOR A FEW MOMENTS PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND NOTHING THE "CONTROL LOCKED" LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THE WASHER IS A KENMORE ELITE HE3 FRONT LOADING SORRY I DO NOT HAVE MODEL # WITH ME I AM AT WORK.

If the control locked feature (child lock) is turned on the control will not respond to touching the buttons. You should be able to turn the control lock on or off by pressing and holding the "Drain/Spin" button for 3-5 seconds.

If you can't turn the control lock feature off then most likely the control interface has failed and has a stuck or shorted keypad.

One thing you might try to correct this problem is to access and disconnect the interface ribbon for a minute and then reinstall it into the control. See the second image for how to do this. Remember to

unplug the washer first

.

If unplugging the ribbon connector doesn't work then most likely the keypad is shorted and the interface will need to be replaced.
