Why is my Kenmore washer making a quiet, highpitched whine only when plugged in? I'd just done a load w/ no problems.

Model 110 45862400, Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak2. Makes a highpitched sound when plugged in. Stops when unplugged.

Thanks for the help...I'll keep using it while I can, and will know what to expect when and if it stops working!

The high pitched noise is most likely emitting from the machine control board. I would not be concerned about if the washer still operates normally or you could replace the machine control board. The machine control board is part #8182687 at the cost of $221.72. The machine control can be ordered from

Sears Parts Direct

.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the top.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

i understand what an inconvenience it can be to have a loud high pitch noise coming from your washer. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a useful link about a possible reason why your washer is making that noise. I hope this helps out!
