Kenmore Intellisoft 370 water softener

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

Displays ERR3 message. When I cycle power, it shows 00:02 min remaining in Recharge mode, then eventually shuts off and displays same error message again. Motor turns, position indicator works. For fun, I checked the nozzle/venturi, and they are clean.

Yep, it was the switch. Thanks!

I would test again to be sure the motor is not stalling or the switch is sometimes not registering. Set the softener in the recharge now and watch it all the way through the recharge.

Sometimes the rotor is too hard to turn and the motor will stall later in the cycle. If the softener makes it through without stopping, the clock (timer) is bad. This is the correct part number and price. I wouldn't want to replace the timer and find something else was causing it.

If the motor stalls take the valve apart and coat the face of the rotor with a thin coat of silicone grease. Silicone grease is food quality and is safe to use inside the valve.

You would need to replace the seal if this is the case but this will let you be sure the softener will work if the rotor is ok.

Thanks. Its Model # 625.383760. By "clock", do you mean the P/N 7287124 Timer Replacement (PWA)? I looked online, and those are $153. Ouch. I'd hate to order one and find out that didn't fix it. Any other options to be sure that is it?

Without a model number I can only give you general information on your water softener.

I am sending you an image showing the error codes on water softeners and the most likely reasons for the error codes.

If the motor is running and the position indicator is showing the position of the switch, the problem is probably in the clock. There is no troubleshooting for the clock or faceplate. If the switch, motor, and wiring are all good, replace the clock.

I hope this helps.

Ok, thanks. I think the switch and wiring to the switch are okay, because I can watch the motor turn the cam against the switch, see the switch depressed and released, and see the faceplate register the switch being turned on/off. The other possibility was a bad faceplate?!? How the heck would I troubleshoot that?

I understand your concern for having an error code on your water softener. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link about what that particular error code means. I hope this helps.
