Green light is flashing on dishwasher

The green light is flashing (7 times per cycle) on my Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 665.16293401. I cannot get it to restart or do anything.

Any clues?

I don't see any attachments regarding the diagnostic test to clear the green light. Can someone share the steps with me please. Model number is 66516293401. Thank you.

The images below contain information needed to enter the diagnostic test. The 2nd image shows what should happen in the test.

Fred, I have a similar problem with my Sears elite model #665.16293401. I did the diagnostic as shown on the sheet from anne. All the lights came on but it would not allow me to go any further. I tried getting back to anne but the Join this Conversation box would not open to allow me to let her know. So what happens next? Would you be willing to help me or can you get me back to anne to continue this conversation! My email is jimemcphee@comcast.net.

The key is the water heat and from the previous description I think the element may need to be replaced. If a meter is available then check continuity or resistance across the element and the hi-limit thermostat.

Also make sure the water is not siphoning out of the dishwasher during the wash. Check the water level at the beginning and the end of the cycle. Check at the beginning of the rinse cycle and at the end of the rinse cycle.

Let me know how things check out.

Hi Fred- we are having the same problem with the clean light blinking 6 times. Our model # is 13929K700. We tried heated dry, normal x3 but it didn't work. It still flashes green. What do you think we should do? Our dishwasher is barely a year old.

Fred - just wanted to thank you for your post - it was dead on accurate - I simply cleared the error by running a diagnosit test and it worked fine - heater is still working - I looked at the element and it is in tact - it is a little old and might need to be replaced soon but still working at the present time

If the dishwasher won't run at all and the clean light is flashing 7 times it is because the control thinks the heater is not working.

You can clear the error by running a diagnostic test but if the heater isn't working then the lights will flash again until the problem is fixed.

The image below will show you how to enter and run a diagnostic cycle.

This should clear the error and allow you to use the dishwasher. Try to notice if there is any steam at the end of the cycle or if the dishes are hot to touch.

If there is no steam and the dishes are not hot then it is likely the heater is not working. The problem can be the element, hi limit thermostat or control.

I hope this helps. You can reply to the question with any additional details. Your reply will trigger an email to me and I will try to assist you further.
