Why does eject button not pop out when I replace my Kenmore refrigerator water filter
I have a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator Series 106 with water filter in grill. I have removed the old filter and tried to replace with new filter. Eject button depresses as I push in new filter, but cannot get filter to fully engage so that eject button pops back out. I watched position of old filter as I pulled it out, and put new on in the same way. What am I doing wrong?

I have the manual and was following the directions in it. I even called Sears Technical Support, and followed their instructions (which they took from the manual), and it still didn't work. If anyone has anymore suggestions, please respond.
If the filter is not all the way in, the button cannot pop out. There is a lip on the filter that has to go past the button, to allow it to pop out. Some filters can be difficult to get all the way back inside the housing. If the original will go back in properly, check it against the new filter to see if there is any difference or if the new filter is longer. Some filters have been redesigned and can be more difficult to install. In most cases, the filter will work but may need more force to get it installed. For more specific information, a complete model number will be needed.
Scott, your statement about the filter needing "more force" to get it installed solved my problem. I just wasn't pushing hard enough on it. The manuals need to be updated with that statement added. Thanks.
