Kenmore dryer not heating on Permanent Press cycle

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

Kenmore Series 70 electric dryer....serial number M34405334 Model # 86577800 Stock # 65778.
No heat on Permanent Press cycle, works fine on timed cycle.
What part and part number do I need to purchase to repair. There is no manual that I can find...so don't even know where to look for fuses to see if maybe that is the problem.

From the description you give most likely the timer is at fault causing this problem.

If there is heat in the timed cycle but not the permanent press cycle the most likely reason is a bad timer.

If it heats in the timed dry cycle then the thermostats and fuses are okay.

The 696612 timer controls this function. It is available from the following site: I

Sears PartsDirect

for approximately $94 dollars. .

I hope this information is helpful to you.

You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.

Thanks for the link! I have checked my vent hose and circuit breakers....in case it was just one that started to flip. So I know it isn't that. Now, how do I check to see which of the other three items mentioned is the bad one. :)
