I understand that you are getting the error code E1 on your Kenmore Elite dryer. The E1 error code indicates an open thermister.

Do not

attempt to jump across the thermister. The thermister is not a switch it is more like a resistor that reads & responds to temperature & changes value to regulate the heating element.

I have a link for you follow on this same exact symptom. The link will cover access, testing & replacing the thermister in your Kenmore dryer.
