Kenmore Elite range won't unlock

Kenmore electric range 790-9663-2702, used self cleaning cycle this morning, near the end of the cycle oven beeped and displayed Err F90. I hit stop button and waited for oven to cool and unlock. It cooled but did not unlock. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still will not open. Not displaying locked symbol anymore, just won't open

The electronic on new appliances can make our lives easier, but if we do not understand the codes, it can be more difficult. I found a similar question from a previous post that should help answer the what does it mean. I attached the link below. Hope this helps get your stove back to making life easier.

The F90 error code indicates that the maximum oven door unlock time was exceeded. The control applied voltage to the oven door lock assembly motor to unlock the oven door but a component failure or mechanical problem prevented the door from unlocking.

You could have a bad door lock assembly, a wiring failure or a problem with the electronic oven control board that prevented the oven from unlocking. You can

unplug the range

and check the wiring connections on the control board and the door lock assembly using the information shown in the images below. To access these components (with the range

), remove the back panels of the range. Check the wire harness connections between the electronic oven control board in the console and the door lock assembly on the back of the range (wires are traced in colors on the diagram below). If you find no wiring problems, I recommend that you replace the door lock assembly. The part number for the door lock assembly is 316464300. Here is a direct link to that part on the Sears website:

Latch assembly

If you replace the door latch assembly and have the same problem, then the electronic oven control board (part 316462853) will probably need to be replaced.

These tips should help you fix this problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations:
