I understand how important it is for your washer to be spinning properly so that you can wash all of your loads without any problems and I will be happy to be of some help. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I recommend you resubmit your question and include the model number of your washer so that the expert will provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem. I hope my link is useful.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. Most of the time when the agitator does not work, it is because of the agitator dogs have failed. When the dogs go bad, the bottom part of the agitator works fine but it is under the water and clothes so you can not see it. I recommend starting the washer on a low water level without clothes. When the washer starts to agitate the water should move in the basket. If it does this, I recommend replacing the agitator dogs. I have provided you with the instructions below on how to replace the dogs. This is something you should be able to do with basic hand tools.

First, remove the fabric softener on the top of the agitator. The agitator might have a cover on the top or the cover is inside the agitator. Remove the cover to remove the cover to expose the bolt in the center of the agitator. Remove the bolt and the agitator will now come out. Replace the dogs and reassemble in the reverse order. I have provided you with some images below of the agitator removal. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Please use Sears.com to order any parts you need.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears's technician.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
