Kenmore Elite dishwasher water not circulating

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Model 630.16309403

The dishwasher is getting power and lets the water fill the basin at the beginning of the cycle but after that is just sits and no water is moving... I have removed the toe-kick and front door panel and I hear a humming from the circulating pump but that is it. I think the motor is bad. How to I confirm it is the motor and what are the steps to replace the pump motor?

Thanks,

Marcus

From the description you give you hear the circulation motor humming but it doesn't turn.

The pump may be blocked or just bad. The circulation motor can be removed and obstructions checked but it is a difficult do-it-yourself.

To access and remove the motor you will have to remove the toe panel and the right hand side panel. The dishwasher will have to be pulled out from under the cabinet.

Unless you are extremely confident in your do-it-yourself skills I'd suggest a technician check and repair this problem.

The image below will show the steps to accessing the circulation motor. There are many steps and it is a difficult job. Read through the instructions first.

Remember to turn the power off first.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears’s technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

If you do-it-yourself and find the pump is bad then it can be obtained from the following link:

Sears PartsDirect

.

I hope this information is helpful to you in resolving this problem in time for the holidays. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.

Dishwashers are wonderful inventions but can give you the yuck factor if they are not cleaning the dishes. While you wait for the expert answer for your model, you can check a expert suggestion from a previous similar post. Bear in mind the model number is different. I also added a troubleshooting guide that may help. I attached the links below.
