Why won't my tilt-in casement windows stay up without support?

Many years ago, I had vinyl replacement casement windows installed in my house. These windows tilt in for cleaning and now some of of the bottom windows will not stay up without support. What happened and how can I fix it?

Thank you to those who responded to my question but we figured it out for ourselves. Seems that parts needed to be replaced. We were able to locate and purchase the needed parts, tomorrow will be the installation process. Thanks to those who tried to help.
