Kenmore Progressive Direct drive vacuum cleaner not working.

Kenmore progressive Direct drive vacuum cleaner model 31913? (Purple Machine) sparked when power up and died. Will not restart. Circuit breaker (red button) ok as is the power strip I plugged into.

Thank you for the response. I actually found the problem. I removed the handle and dirt sensor panel. I found the line cord insulation cracked and very brittle. When you moved the handle while running the vacuum the insulation began to cut into the wire and it eventually cut through. I think the spark was from the wire arcing when it was cut. I repaired the wire and we're back using the vacuum. Thanks for your help.

I'm curious where the spark seem to come from. From the description you give either the motor is bad or the control board is.

If the spark came from the handle then the control is most likely at fault.

If the spark came from the base then the motor is most likely at fault.

Be sure you turned the unit off and unplug it to let everything cool down.

I hope this information is helpful to you but give me a reply where the spark seem to come from and I’ll try a help you further with this problem.

I know how important it is to have a good working vacuum cleaner in your home so that your rug will stay nice and clean.
