How do I reprogram my craftsman garage door opener after changing the battery?

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I had to change the battery in my garage door remote opener. Now that I have put a new battery the remote will not open or close the garage door. The opener on the wall works fine. I also tried to program my homelink on my vehicle. It will not work either. I need someone to help me reprogram the remote and the homelink on my vehicle.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having this problem with your opener. I should be able to help. I have provided you with the instructions for programming the remote in the first image below. I recommend erasing the stored codes in the opener first. Then follow the instructions for programming the remotes. To program the home link on the vehicle please click on the following link.

I have already went through the manual and performed the steps and nothing?? Don, if this part has stopped working, is this something that can be fixed or is the unit done? What about programming my homelink on my truck? Does the remote have to be working in order to program the homelink? Is there another way to program the homelink?

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit. It is near where all those white wires go. Hold the button down on your remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button. If this doesn't work your receiver which is part of the logic board has quit working.

I access my garage almost daily since I park my car inside and I know how important it is to have all of the remotes working properly. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I suggest you look in your owners manual for instructions on programing your garage door opener remotes. Below is a link in where you can enter your model number and your owners manual will pop up. I hope my link is useful.
