Kenmore HE 2 Plus has an error code 5d? what does that mean?

I am sorry you are having problems with your washer. The 5d or SD error code is a suds error. This is usually caused by using too much or the wrong detergent. With this type of washer, you need to use the recommended amount of name brand HE detergent. This detergent produces fewer suds than regular detergent. If you can see suds in the washer, I recommend removing the clothes and run the washer without a load or detergent. This should cure the problem.

If you do not see suds in the washer there is a possibility the pressure switch is faulty and it is telling the main control the washer still has suds. In this case, I recommend unplugging the washer and remove the top. I have provided you with the instructions for removing the top below. The pressure switch is located left rear of the washer. Remove the pressure hose from the bottom the switch and blow into it. If it is clear, I recommend replacing the pressure switch.
