To test the ignition switch for your tractor you will need a volt ohm meter. With the meter, you can check continuity of the switch. The easiest way I have found to check a switch is to remove it from the tractor. With it out you can see the terminals better. I have provided you with an image below of the wiring diagram of the tractor. In the lower left corner you will see the backside of the ignition switch and a chart, showing the terminals connected on each key position. For example when the key is in the run position, you should have continuity between B and L. If you do not get a reading, the switch is defective. You have to use the chart and check all positions.
