My refrigerator is periodically making a loud knocking noise and getting worse- what could be wrong?

My refrigerator is a Kenmore side by side, Model #253 56272403, with ice machine/water. The loud knocking noise sounds like it is coming from the right lower side and sounds like it's possibly against metal. Could this be a major problem needing service asap- I don't want to loose any food or end up with water everywhere. There are about 10 or less knocks at a time, several times a day now.

Loud noises from the refrigerator can be very worrisome. While you wait for the expert to review your model, you can check a similar question from a previous post is you like. If you decide you need an experienced technician to diagnose and make repairs, an option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the handy scheduler. I attached the links below.

I can understand your concern. The information you have received is correct. This is a normal noise that compressors can make. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further. If you would like to have a technician check it, I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website:
