Left hand vs. right hand refrigerator door handle on a Amana Refrigerator

Amana refrigerator Model number TX21A3L MFG # p1181504WL...
My refrigerator opens by using your left arm to open. If you were standing in front of it and were to open the door the door would swing from the left to right (the hinge for the door is on the right, the handle is on the left). My handle broke and I ordered a new one which delivered today. Unfortunately the handle is for a right handed door (swings out right to left) I order the part from SEARS and the representative told me that this part is universal and should work on either side of the door with slight modifications. I told him it was impossible to do this because it is a plastic molded piece. He then recommended me to your web site because he said this is the ONLY handle made for this unit. I told him that the model number and MFG number ended in "L" because it's a left handed door. He told me it had nothing to do with it. Can you PLEASE tell me the correct part number that I need? Can you confirm that it is impossible to modify this handle to fit on my door? FRUSTRATED!

There are 2 part numbers for door handles for your refrigerator. One part number is for the refrigerator door handle, the other is for the freezer door handle. I am sending you both part numbers. Hopefully one of these part numbers is the one you were sent. I recommend you order the other part number. The part numbers are:

I can see how frustrating this may be for you. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, a suggestion I have is to visit Sears Home Services website to set service with a Sears technician. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!
