how do i know washer machine water pump is no good?

washer is not draining water out and i have checked for kinked hoses or any other obstruction which led me to nothing. i took off the watrer pump but wanted to know how to tell if it is no good?

Diagnosing washer problems can be challenging. A suggestion I have to help the expert provide a better answer is to add the model number of your washer to this thread. In the meantime I attached three links that may help. The first has some common problems that would cause a washer not to drain. In case it is not the pump. The bottom two links are from other troubleshooting web sites that are pretty good. The second deals specifically with the pump. I attached the links below. Hope this helps!

If the motor and pump is running but no water is draining out then most likely the 3363394 pump is bad.

One thing you can try first is to lower the drain hose over a shallow pan and see if the water in the tub will drain by gravity. If not then there may be a sock or other obstruction blocking the pump.
