Manage My Life

Kenmore HE2 Plus washer, model 110.47512600, 3 years old. It has started leaving grease spots (slightly darker than original color) on my cloths. What now?

I ran the clean cycle but that didn't help.

I've been told it maybe a transmission problem but this model apparently doesn't have a transmission.

What could it be?

Having stains left on otherwise clean clothes from the laundry can be upsetting. I found a similar question that may help while you wait for the expert. I also added a web link with good tips for removing those stains. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern when you are getting grease spots on your clothes.

You are correct in that this washer does not have a transmission.

I would suggest that you examine the inside of the door boot to see if it has some build up trapped in the folds of the rubber boot that may need to be cleaned by hand with detergent.

There is a slight possibility that the spin bearing and seal have failed and it could be putting a grease stain on the clothes.

I would suggest that you remove the back panel of the washer and look behind the big drive pulley where the basket shaft comes through the outer tub at the bearing and see if there is any staining or a dip line down the back of the outer tub from that bearing and seal area.

If there is then the water seal has failed and will need to be replaced.

Then I would run it through another clean cycle with a product called Affresh.

I will give you a link for this product.

I hope this will help.
