Why are we getting a sewage smell from our front load Washer?

We have a front load Washer, model# 110.47532602. It has a sewage smell that we can't get rid of. Originally, we could empty out the drain pump and it would go away. Now the smell will not go away after cleaning out the drain pump and using the Affresh Tablets to clean it out. We use HE detergent and leave the door opened when not in use. The last time the pump was cleaned out there was quite of bit of water that came out. What can we do to resolve this issue? How much water should be in the pump area when it's drained or cleaned out?

Sewage type odors tend to originate from floor drains or standpipes and are typically the result of plumbing back-ups or restrictions. Verify the odor is emanating from the floor drain or standpipe. If it is you should have the drain/sewer checked by an authorized plumber. If the odor is strongest after a heavy rain, it is most likely the sewer system. None of these problems are caused by the machine itself, unless there is mold build up on the outer part of the tub due to moisture. (can be caused by the washer door being closed directly after a cycle)

If the problem does not lie with the standpipe, I would recommend having a service technician come out to determine the exact source of the problem.
