I just changed oil. 30 wt. sparkplug worked good last start when did not notice hard to pull. It pulls hard and barely turns over, and won't catch. Temp warm in the mid 70s here.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem starting the engine. If it is hard to pull, check to make sure the engine brake cable is connected and you have the bail arm pulled down. If the cable is fine and you have the handle, pulled check for something caught in the blade or wrapped around the engine shaft. To check this remove the spark plug wire and tip the mower so that the air filter is up. Then visually inspect the blade area for something causing the binding. I often see the belt get wedged above the engine pulley. If the belt is fine and nothing wrapped around the pulley, I recommend removing the spark plug. Then pull the starter rope. If the engine does not turn over easily, there is something internally wrong and should be service by a technician.

I hope this is helpful.
