trouble starting Sears Craftsman 625 power lawnmower, pulls hard and barely turn over.

Craftsman 625 Series B & S engine 22" cut Mod 917. 376673. you: I have a 625 Sears mower 3 years old 10/07 and having trouble getting it to start
I just changed oil. 30 wt. sparkplug worked good last start when did not notice hard to pull. It pulls hard and barely turns over, and won't catch. Temp warm in the mid 70s here.

I am sorry you are having a problem starting the engine. If it is hard to pull, check to make sure the engine brake cable is connected and you have the bail arm pulled down. If the cable is fine and you have the handle, pulled check for something caught in the blade or wrapped around the engine shaft. To check this remove the spark plug wire and tip the mower so that the air filter is up. Then visually inspect the blade area for something causing the binding. I often see the belt get wedged above the engine pulley. If the belt is fine and nothing wrapped around the pulley, I recommend removing the spark plug. Then pull the starter rope. If the engine does not turn over easily, there is something internally wrong and should be service by a technician.

Temperature in the 70's will make a lot of people very envious. You might even get offers to come fix your mower just for the sunshine. I found a previous expert post with some suggestions of checks that can be made while you wait for the expert to review. I attached that link below. Hope this helps before that grass gets too high.
