replace light bulb in kenmore refrigerator

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I have Kenmore model # 596 75262700 and want to replace light bulb in the fresh food section. I have
not been able to remove the light shield. I have looked at pg 22 of the instructions manual and the light
shield does not look like the one featured on the page for the fresh food section, but does look more
like the one described under the freezer section. My unit is bottom freezer refrigerator. It was purchased
on 5-31-2007 from Sears at Valley View, TX, 01057.

I have put my thumb in the indentation at the far end of the shield and pressed forward and then tried to
pull down, but it will not budge. And I have tried to slide forward by using my hands along the side.
And I have called "managemylife" and they tried to be helpful, but so far, no good.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having problems replacing the light bulb in the refrigerator. I have pulled up the parts list of your refrigerator and it matches the manual I have here. I have provided you with an image below of the light parts. I have marked the lens with two arrows showing where it is clipped in. Per the instructions I have, locate the two tabs, and push them forward while pulling down. I have also posted the instructions I have for replacing the light.

Please let me know if you need further assistance with replacing the light bulb.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Replacing the light bulb would seem to be a fairly easy job. Most people have found it to be a bit difficult though. Below I have provided some instructions from an expert from a previous post. I hope these links help!
