I know it can be very frustrating to have a Kenmore sewing machine you depend on break down. is always a great resource to find answers to just about anything. I can understand wanting know the machine is working but not moving the needle.

It sounds like you have not got the bobbin winder hand wheel lock in place.

Depending on the model machine you have the bobbin on some models when activated for winding a bobbin will not move the hand wheel. Make you push the bobbin winder back to the left position.

On some models you have a hand wheel lock in the center of the hand wheel that will either need to be pushed in or turned to lock the hand wheel for driving the machine.
