Replacing ice maker 5989JA0002Q.

Ordered new ice maker 5989JA0002Q. It came with no instructions. How do I unplug the old ice maker? It has a couple catches that prevent me from just pulling out the plug.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. Unfortunately, icemakers usually do not come with any instructions. To remove the old icemaker, loosen the 2 screws holding it at the top and slide the icemaker upward to free it or you can just remove the screws and top supports completely. Now with the icemaker free, you can disconnect the harness and remove the icemaker. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

We already have a new unit. There is nothing wrong with the new unit we have. Do not order a new icemaker unit.

The model in the book is 5989JA0002F. However, when we ordered the replacement unit, they said the that model number was not available & the replacement number was 5989JA0002Q

When it comes to replacing parts it can be quite a challenge. I was searching your model number you have provided and it seems to be in corrected. A suggestion I have is to go over your model number and add it to this thread so you can get a better answer from the experts!
