How do I clear out the old codes from my Garage Door Opener?

I have a Craftsman Garage Door Opener, model# 139.651500. My car was stolen and had the garage door opener remote in it, along with my personal information that had address on it. I need to find out how I can clear out the old codes from it so that the person that stole it will not be able to access my home from the garage. I spoke to a representative at Manage My Life. They were unable to locate information on the programming of the door opener. The owners manual was no longer available. Can you please let me know how to clear out the codes and see if I would be able to purchase a compatible remote for my model? Thank you.

You will need to open up the wall control/radio and the remote you still have and change the dipswitches. Make them match up but be different than what they are now. If you do not have any other remotes, just change some of the switches.

So you know, you will be hard pressed to find one of these old remotes anymore. You may end up having to put a new radio control on this unit (like the one Don described). If that type of radio has been installed already, you can follow the directions Don posted to change the codes.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Forgot your question. If you press and hold the smart actuator for 6 seconds it will erase all the codes.

Your opener was made long before programmable codes were even thought of. Someone may have added a universal receiver and remote. Here is some information that will hopefully help you.
