My Kenmore coffeemaker completely stopped working. What do I do?

Made coffee this morning in my Kenmore 100.06961 Coffemaker. A few hours later, when I went to brew more, the coffeemaker did nothing. The light lit when I pressed the center button and the word on the screen said "brew" but the coffeemaker just sat there doing absolutely nothing, making no noises. The heating element beneath the carafe didn't even get warm.

What is your expert advice?

Mine did the same thing, however I got it to working again. The problem was that it had developed a plug in the tubing that moves the water into the heating element. I cleaned it via maker instructions EXCEPT I had to change one step. I had to heat the vinegar FIRST since the tubing was completely plugged. Here's how I dislodged the plug via these steps. 1. HEAT 6 cups of vinegar to ALMOST boiling. 2. Pour HOT vinegar into the holding tank on the coffee maker. 3. Let sit for a few minutes. 4. Start coffee maker. This worked and my coffee maker began working again. 5. I then let the 6 cups run through. 6. Clean coffee maker per manual instructions. 7. I now clean weekly, regardless of whether the blinking "clean" notice is flashing, and my coffee pot has continued working.

The manager at Sears did that while I was there. He said they have no record of my purchase. I don't undrstand that. We have the red coffeemaker. 100.06963. Maybe I'll try that number myself later to talk to someone. It was the store manager that called so I assume he gave the correct information. I was standing there!

Thank you for your comment Betty. I am so sorry that they would not replace you coffee maker.

When you purchased the coffee maker did you give your phone number to the check out person? If you did it may be in you purchase history.

I would suggest that you call 1-800-4MY-HOME and ask the agent to look into your purchase history by phone number to see if it is there.

Please let me know how that works out and if it does not let me know and I will see what other things I can do for you.

mine did the same thing. just stopped working. I did take it to the store but since I can't find my register sheet, they will not replace it. I'm very disappointed. It's only 13 months old.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to have the coffee maker working like it should.

If you are setting the coffee maker correctly like I think you are then I would suggest that you return it to the store for an over the counter replacement.

These coffee makers are non-serviceable and usually all you can get is the carafe and filter.

Since this is a currant model you must have purchased it recently. If you look at the warranty that came with the coffee maker it may have a five limited warranty, and it usually say's to bring it back to the retail store for exchange.

No morning coffee can ruin your day. I checked for the owner's manual and did not find one available at this site. That is the first place I would look for troubleshooting help. I did attach a previous expert post that is not your model but has advice you may want to consider. I attached the link below along with the link to Sears.com if you would like to comparison shop for a new coffee maker. Hope this helps while you wait ofr the expert to review your model.
