chain comes off often

I will assume you're having an issue with a chain saw. If that's the case the chain can be getting tossed due to a bad chain, a bad bar, or a bad sprocket. In most cases the bar and chain tend to be the problem. If take the chain off you can use a straight edge to see any bends in the chain and bar. Also, you can check the sprocket when you remove the chain and bar to make sure it is not worn down.

The chain on any appliance needs to stay in place in order for the appliance to function properly. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your appliance and also some more detailed information about your appliance so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link in where you can enter your model number and your owners manual will pop up in where you can find some good troubleshooting tips. I hope my link is useful.
