fuel line replacement for gas hedge trimmer

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I am attempting to replace the fuel lines On a 22" gas hedge trimmer model #358795631 made in 1996. The existing lines had almost entirely deteriated. The replacement lines I purchased from sears appear to be same dia. as the originals. Should the in-tank fuel filter attach to the smaller or larger line? I thought that it came off of the smaller line, but the new line will not go all the way over the barb on fuel filter fitting.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry for the problems you are having with the trimmer. The fuel filter should be attached to the small line in the fuel tank. I know it is difficult to get it over the barb but it should stretch over it. it seems that the ethanol fuels are causing problems the fuel lines. I have not tried it yet but Sta-bil has a fuel stabilizer made for ethanol fuel.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
