Kenmore Dishwasher Start Button won't work

Help! My Kenmore Ultrawash dishwasher (model 665.1345) isn't working. After several power outages/water being spilled on the front panel all of the buttons started flashing. After resetting the power circuit all of the buttons now work but the start button will not work, and i cannot get the dishwasher to start. Any suggestions of what to try would be appreciated!

That link for a previous answer that Joseph P. provided in the above response may help you with this dishwasher problem. I provided a wiring diagram in the first image below with that door switch circuit traced in red. I recommend that you

shut off the house circuit breaker

for the dishwasher and check the door switch assembly for proper operation. Here is a link for a video that shows how to test the switches in the door latch assembly:

Switch Testing

. The third image shows how to access the door latch assembly in this type of dishwasher.

If you find a failed switch, replacing that component should fix this dishwasher failure. You can order parts from the

Sears PartsDirect

If the door switches are okay, you could have a failure in the control panel or the electronic control board in the console. The second image shows the technical information on checking the control panel. You may be able to use that information to check the Start Key on the panel. If that key is okay, then you will probably need to replace the electronic control board. If that Start Key is bad, then replacing the control panel should fix the dishwasher.

These tips should help you diagnose and repair this dishwasher failure. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:
