Washer started to Smoke and Smelled like Burnt Rubber

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I have a 20 year old Kenmore Heavy Duty Stylemaster 902202 rev f washing machine. The other day I put a load in and it filled up started to run then stopped spinning. The room filled with smoke and smelled like burnt rubber. I could hear the motor running but nothing was happening. I tried to drain the water and it would not drain. So I have to bucket the water out. Is this a belt or something else? I would like to keep it because I hear the older washing machines were built better. Please give me some advice as I am trying to save money in this cost driven economy.

Smoke is definitely not supposed to be coming out of your washer. So I understand your concern. Below I attached some links that may help you with your situation. I hope this helps!
