Bad tasting water from refrigerator.

We have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator model# 795.78343.803 that we bought one year ago and had always had great tasting water from it for the year that we have had it. In the past month, the water from the dispenser has started to taste awful-musty and chemical. We changed the water filter and this did not improve anything. The water from the tap is fine. We have good quality lines going to the frig-not copper-but the flexible, ribbed, shiny metal ones and the water has never tasted funny. My question is: is there a water reservoir that needs to be cleaned? I have tried to read previous posts on this problem and it seems some frig models have coils of PVC tubing that are the "tank". Is this what this frig has? Can it be cleaned or does it need to be replaced? Can we have details on how to access it? Thank you kindly for any assistance.

I don't know if you ever found an answer to your question, but the reason your ice/water tastes funny isn't the filter, but the water line splitter in the bottom rear of your refrigerator. Likely the solenoid inside has gone bad and it makes your water/ice taste funny. Find the model of your refrigerator and locate a replacement part either on the internet or through a local appliance store. They're usually less than $60 and it only takes about 1/2 an hour to change yourself. I ran about a gallon of water through my door and dumped the first few batches of ice and now both taste fine.
