kenmore ultra wash dishwasher

Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher model # 665.16032401, Serial # FS 1313378.

"CLEAN" light flashing. Machine will not start. Once before had the same problem. was directed to push heat dry and normal wash buttons three times and then push cancel twice to reset unit. this time that doesn't work. I have turned off the power to the unit overnight and tried the reset again and it still doesn't work. The "CLEAN" light is still flashing and whe machine doesn't work, will not start.

Hi William,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

There could be several causes for this failure. It could be a bad heating element, open neutral door switch, wash motor, or control board.

The clean LED blinks 7 times and the dishwasher ceases to operate.

A heater fault detection program has been added to the electronic control to monitor the

operation of the heater. If a temperature rise in the water is not detected during the first 8

minutes of the beginning of the main wash, the dishwasher will shut down. A fault (clean LED blinking) will be indicated if: a 2 degree Fahrenheit increase in the water temperature is not obtained (inlet water temp greater than 90°F)

I recommend that you run the service diagnostics. I have included this in an image below. After the 88 appears in the display the heater turns on in 4 minutes. After starting the service cycle, you can start a timer when the 88 in the display goes away, and slowly open the door at 6 minutes. You should feel heat coming out of the dishwasher. If not, the next things we will need to check require the use of an ohm/volt meter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:
