Loud humming sound when I press the gas.

I have a 2009 dodge caliber and it has 50,000 miles on it already. When I give it gas it makes a loud humming sound and the faster I go the louder it gets. Also when I'm driving at a slow speed I want to say it kinda sounds like a little diesel car. When I let up on the gas while I'm at a slow speed instead of just slowing down it kind of pulls back.

Might have an issue with a wheel bearing. Get it to a certified ASE shop or your dealer for diagnosis immediately.

I understand how frustrating it may be when a vehicle that is depended on starts sounding odd or just not work at all. While you are waiting for a detailed reply from an expert i recommend visiting your nearest sears auto center were you can speak with a auto associate regarding the loud noise.
