Kenmore Dryer He4 Bad Drum Seals

I have a kenmopre He4 Dryer model 110.85862401 and the drum seals need to be replaced. I need to know how to take the drum out and if I need to replace the drum rollers too. Also I have had this dryer for only six years is this wear normal.Any info on relacing the drum seals would be great.

You can order the seals from the

Sears PartsDirect

website. The part number for the felt seal on that model of dryer is 280114. If you are replacing both seals then you will need to order 2 of that part number 280114. Be sure that you

unplug the dryer

before accessing internal components. Here is a link for a video that shows how to replace those felt seals:

Video: Dryer Drum Seal Replacement

NOTE: That video recommends that you allow the seals only 20 minutes to dry. I recommend that you allow the seals to dry for 8 hours before reassembling the dryer

.

The failure of those seals in 6 years could be normal depending on the use, level of loading and the environment where the dryer is used. It is somewhat premature based on a dryer that is used only 8 times a week, filled with medium loads and in a relatively dry, climate controlled laundry room.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
