I bought a Craftsman VT3000 Riding Mower, Model 917288520 yesterday. It will not start now. It started at the Sears Outlet yesterday and I mowed my front lawn

It will not start today. I killed the battery trying to start it. It cranks but will not start. Yesterday it started up quickly. I changed the gas, the fuse is good. There is no grass stuck on the blades or in the bags. Please help

Check to make sure when you choke it on the throttle lever that it actually chokes at the carburetor. If you move the lever up/down and watch the carburetor you should notice the choke shaft moving back and forth. You will actually see both shafts moving if everything is as it should be. If you do see both shafts moving we can be pretty sure the choke is working as it should and that's not the problem.

At that point I would have to think the ignition coil failed for some reason. That's not something typically seen on a new (or newer) machine, but it is possible.

You may want to contact

Sears Home Services

to have a tech come out or see if the store where purchased can get somebody by there to have a look at the tractor. I cannot imagine it being anything serious with it being new.
