Whirlpool Duet washer coding F11

My washer has either a failed or worn component : MCU, CCU, wire harness? This is a 2004 machine, Sears will come out to the house and look at it but for a price. My husband is very handy, just not sure which component is the problem. So here is the machines behavior:

It will start a wash cycle, begin initially by filling with water, then its like it doesnt know what to do next so it just stops and flashes F11. Which component will cause this behavior?
