why is my dehumidifier running but not collecting water. filter cleaned, nothing around it,VERY humid in basement

Maybe it's faulty? Try to contact your seller or just look again in manual. You can check this website out as well for more information on basement dehumidifiers

I can understand your concern for the dehumidifier not taking any humidity out of the air.

James R. gave you a good link to a previous answer from Scott D. that fits your situation.

If you can reply with the model number off your unit I will be glad to help you with a more precise answer.

If the fan is running and the humidity is higher than the setting you have chosen it should running.

If all the suggestions above have check okay you may have to take the unit in to see why the compressor may not be running and only the fan is.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations:
