Sometimes changing the batteries do not work . Why are the batteries so expensives? Somtimes they cost more than the lights.

Thank for your question.

I can understand wanting to replace the dead batteries in the solar lights.

James R. has given you a good link to some of your questions.

Most of the solar lighting units have two AA or two AAA batteries rechargeable batteries and they may or may not be soldered in place under the battery cover.

You will have to remove the light head off the solar light and remove the battery cover to see what size and how many rechargeable batteries it takes.

The old batteries will have the type and style and you should be able to use the standard rechargeable batteries from any retail store.
