I fixed my washer using these instruction. I just wanted to come back here and say thanks for posting this. I followed these instructions with the diagnostic tests, determined that in fact, the latch was bad. After replacement, the washer operated perfectly.

I'm happy that the washer has this type of self-diagnostic capabilities. It took some reading through but most of the info you need is in those instructions.

I registered the washer at Maytag.com and downloaded the operations manuals from there. I found a YouTube video by searching for the part number in YouTube that shows how to open the top of the washer to get access to the lid lock.

Note to others, to do the detailed lid lock test, you'll need a digital multi-meter to conduct the tests. If you squint really hard, you'll note the number "1" on the P12 connector that indicates pin number one. On mine, it was the white wire.

Overall, very helpful. Thanks again for posting. This post (plus some learning time from me) saved me the price of a service call plus visits to the laundromat while waiting for a service call. So I'm guessing that you saved me a solid $100. Thanks!

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am sorry you are having problems with your washer.

Here are the diagnostic tests you will need to perform for the dL error (see images below). The tech sheet has the tests in order that they are to be done.

The lid lock assembly part number is W10059230 (LATCH). The main control board part number is W10189966 (ELEC-CONTROL).

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases;

Sears Parts Direct

.

Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. I am looking forward to assisting you again in the near future.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Having an error code on a washer can be inconvenient and keep your appliance from working properly and I will be happy to help. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did manage to find a link that will provide you with some good information to help you with your question. Please keep in mind that the link describes a different model washer than yours therefore the part numbers are different for your model and I hope my link is useful.
