We have a Maytag washer, model # HAV2360AWW, that does not spin. What would your expert opinion be on why this washer has stopped spinning?

Hi Blaine,

It sounds like the cam in the thrust bearing assembly is worn out, or the inside of the pulley is shot. You have to purchase the thrust bearing in a kit; the thrust bearing kit is part number 12002213. I am including an image below in which I have pointed out the actual thrust bearing. You can also try lubricating the cam really well and replacing the washers with thicker ones if the cam and pulley are not damaged. I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. Thanks again for using Manage My Life. Landell

Thanks for the link to the other post - I replied to that post with this comment:

'The pulley never catches while turning it counter-clockwise. The brake is on all the time - we can force the cam on the end of the shaft to release the brake (by using a screwdriver), but as soon as the pulley turns the cam goes back to its original place and the brake locks. Can you help us by telling us where the "thrust" bearing is located - we can't find any piece labeled "thrust" bearing using the parts list from the partselect.com site.'

Maybe you can help us, too?

Hi Blaine,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am sorry you are having problems with your washer.

Here is a link to a question similar to yours;

Washing machine drum has stopped spinning. The motor still works and the water still drains.

. In Fred’s answer he discusses the things you will need to check first.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases;

Sears Parts Direct

.

I hope this is helpful. Check the things covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.
