Why is water pooling and freezing at the bottom of my freezer bottom refrigerator?

We have a bottom freezer Kenmore refrigerator, model 596 62824200, bought in 2004. This summer we started having trouble finding water on the floor in the front of the unit. We found a frozen "lake of water" at the bottom of the freezer portion of the refrigerator. We looked in the trouble shooting portion of our manuel to no avail. Is there a hose blocked or maybe the evaporator needs attention. It seems the water doesn't even get to the evaporator. Your input would be appreciated. Thank you. James

The answers pvalde2 sent have good information about your problem.

The problem is the drain tube from the drain pan underneath the evaporator coil inside the freezer to the condensate pan in the compressor compartment under the cabinet is restricted.

You can disconnect power to the refrigerator and remove the freezer baskets and drawer. Remove the cover from the evaporator coil on the rear wall of the freezer. This will let you access the drain pan under the evaporator coil.

Melt the ice in the drain tray under the coil with a hair dryer. Be careful to not melt any plastic parts with the hair dryer. When you have cleared the ice from the drain tray and water runs down the drain tube, pour 1/2 cup of very hot water through the drain tube to clear any blockage.
